Welcome to Hazel Wood High School
We appreciate how difficult the current situation continues to be for each of us.
It has meant that we needed to do things a little differently for our new Year 7 this year. Our team worked very hard to develop ways in which we could provide you with the information that you needed to know and to answer some of the questions that you may have had. As resources became available we have added them to this page so that you can find everything all in one place.
We hope that the content on this page helps you, and your parents, to find out a little more about the school and to feel part of the Hazel Wood family from the very beginning.
We are excited about the journey that you and your families, will start with us at Hazel Wood High School.
If you are thinking about joining the Hazel Wood family we want you to get to know our school, and what it represents. Whilst we know open evenings are unable to take place we still wanted you to have the opportunity to see our staff and pupils, in action on a normal school day. To find out more please see our special video, created for you and your family, by our Hazel Wood family!
Our team are busy meeting as many Year 6 classes as possible, sharing in afternoon tea over the internet whilst answering any questions that you may have. We hope you consider our school and all that it offers. For further information please see our prospectus. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office by telephone and we will do our very best to help you.
Will there be any extra curricular activities for my child?
We are passionate about offering our pupils extra curricular activities at Hazel Wood High School. Due to current guidance we have needed to streamline what is on offer to enable pupils to remain within their year bubbles. We will, of course, review this as soon as we can and hope to bring even more choice to our pupils as the year develops.
Please see the current offer for Autumn 2020 on our page.
You will need to complete and return a consent slip for your child to attend but we will provide these when your child starts school.
My child's year group needs to self-isolate - where will I find out more?
All our letters in relation to Coronavirus will now be added to a new area on our website within the Parent and Carer Section. This willl also be where we upload work for our pupils who are affected by any bubble closures within school.
Work for your child to complete will also be emailed to their school email address. As an additional measure we will also add this work to our website. Due to the number of items to be uploaded, and to make this easier for you and your child to navigate, work for that day will be available. Should you need to go back to a certain piece of work and this is no longer on the website, please refer to the work that is sent, and will be available, through your child's school email account.
These are unprecedented times and we will do all we can to make it easy for you to find what you need.
We also encourage you to download the Parent App. Invites have been sent, however if you need a new invite please contact school and confirm your email address. The app will allow you to see all that you need directly from one place and ensure that you do not miss important communications that affect your child/rens education.
