Oxford University Trip
On Tuesday 4th June, 23 Hazel Wood students had the extreme privilege and pleasure to visit Oxford University.
The trip, kindly hosted by Manchester Higher and organised by Mr Furey and Mrs Hunter, provided our students with the exciting opportunity to be shown around this prestigious university. They could explore the extensive library, dine in the decadent dining hall, relax and reflect in the beautiful gardens and experience a taster of university life with an interactive History lecture.
Our students rose to the occasion, and reflected Hazel Wood’s core values of respect, responsibility and aspiration. They moved around the grounds in a mature manner, engaged effectively with staff and asked probing, insightful questions on application processes and university life in the Q and A session. Many of our students voiced their interest in studying at Oxford and hold sincere intentions to apply when the time comes.
After this dip into higher education, we then moved on to The Natural History Museum. Our students continued to reflect our core values at this change of venue and engaged with the artifacts and exhibitions in a calm and considerate manner. The carefully curated feast of anthropological and natural history information and objects created an abundance of questions and reflections for our Hazel Wood students.
Now we are back at Hazel Wood, I am assured that our students had an amazing, educational and inspirational journey to Oxford. I, and the rest of the teaching staff, will be looking forward to hearing about the exciting academic endeavours our future alumni.
