Hazel Wood High School hosted a Create Fusion Event, led by Mrs Hammond, Director of Create, on Thursday 6th February and this was attended by many of our parent’s and families
Deputy Mayoress, Cllr Haroon, Andrew Rhodes (Head of Unsworth Primary), Ayesha Arif with ladies from Bury Asian Woman’s Centre and Officers from Greater Manchester Police team, were all part of a really successful evening.
On arrival guests were given a flag from a country and they rotated around four different areas of the Create Faculty to join in the activities.
Pakistan Flag - Bury Asian Women’s Centre food demonstration of pakora’s and tasting sessions, as well as Biryani made by year 8 pupils.
Indian Flag - Create some Rangoli art work from India.
South African Flag - Take part in an around the world cricket tournament in PE.
Japan Flag - Find out about Japanese Butoh physical theatre in Drama.
Families and pupils were encouraged to participate in all areas, the evening was a huge success with a fabulous atmosphere and great positive responses from all our guests. Quotes form guests included;

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all who supported and attended our Fusion Event and a special thank you to Ayesha Arif and ladies from Bury Woman’s Asian Centre for the food demonstration and the delicious pakora’s. Well done to all the staff who prepared and ran the sessions, the pupil helpers in each area and to all our young people who came to enjoy all the activities.
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again at the next community event on Friday 14th at 9.30am for our Community Coffee Morning.
