Welcome to Hazel Wood High School
Hazel Wood High School opened its doors on 2nd September 2019 as a proud member of the Oak Learning Partnership. Formerly known as Broad Oak Sports College, the school relaunched following extensive improvement works, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. We are incredibly proud of the vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking school we have become.
With 723 students currently on roll, Hazel Wood is a smaller-than-average secondary school that remains firmly rooted in the heart of its local community. Many families have chosen to send all their children here, a testament to the strong, lasting relationships we’ve built with parents and carers. Our students join us from over 22 different primary schools, and we enjoy close partnerships with our local primary colleagues.
Our dedicated team includes 42 specialist teaching staff, supported by 35 skilled support staff. Together, they are committed to creating a safe, stimulating, and enriching environment where every student can thrive—both in and beyond the classroom.
We offer a broad and engaging curriculum, with a particular focus on ensuring a smooth and positive transition into secondary school. Our unique Year 7 transition model supports students both academically and pastorally, helping them to settle in with confidence and enthusiasm.
At Hazel Wood, our core values—Respect, Responsibility, and Aspiration—are at the heart of everything we do. We warmly invite you to visit us, meet our staff, and experience the spirit of our school for yourself
