Year 10 Shine in GM Higher Debate and Presentation Workshop
On Tuesday 20th January, fourteen Year 10 pupils took part in the engaging 'War of the Words!' workshop led by GM Higher focused on developing confident debating and presentation skills.
Throughout the session, pupils explored how different people present themselves and what these behaviours can communicate to others. They learned practical strategies for managing anxiety during public speaking and discovered that feeling nervous is a completely normal part of the process.
Pupils also had the opportunity to deliver short speeches while adopting a range of character types, using their voices and body language to reflect how each person might present themselves.
To finish, the group took part in a lively debate on whether the school day should be shortened. Their arguments were thoughtful and articulate, and pupils demonstrated our school values by contributing respectfully and listening attentively to one another.
