Bury South Asian Arts and Culture Day
A number of our Year 9 students attended the South Asian Arts and Culture Day, hosted by The Met in Bury Town Centre on 06/02/25.
Developed in conjunction with partners on Bury’s Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP), the event was geared towards Year 9 students who are in their ‘Options’ process currently, choosing their GCSE subjects to provide role models for young people from South Asian backgrounds and to support them in their decision-making.
Students were inspired by journalist Mariam Amini, storyteller Basit Khan, Actor and Musician Hamza Medley and TV Development Producer Bhavesh Jadva who all shared their stories including their barriers, decisions and how they ultimately joined their career pathways.
Our students interacted amazingly with the speakers, asking insightful questions to help guide their decision in their Options choices. Many thanks to our students for being brilliant and The Met and Speakers for hosting such an informative event
