Celebrating World Book Day

Posted on Thursday 10th of March 2022

World Book Day is increasingly a wonderful celebration at Hazel Wood High, where our students are actively encouraged to read for pleasure because we know how important this is in developing their vocabulary and their understanding of the world around them.

This year, on Thursday the 4th of March, the students at Hazel Wood High celebrated with a Murderous twist! As they came into school, they were greeted by the ghost of Mr. Murphy, one of the Assistant Headteachers, and the crime scene that accounted for his 'death'! The theme for the Key Stage 3 students was 'Who Killed Mr. Murphy?' and, in their first few lessons of the day, the students employed their powers of inference and deduction to follow the narrative, unpick the plot, interview the characters and decide what had happened to their Assistant Headteacher.
