Remembrance Assembly

It was an honour for Hazel Wood High School to welcome Mr Steven Fitt, Secretary for the Royal Lancashire Fusiliers on behalf of The British Legion. Mr Fitt captured the student’s attention with his presentation and his moving tribute to all those who have fallen from the armed forces. Mr Fitt went on to recite a touching tribute by reading a poem by John McCrae, In Flanders Fields.

An audience with Sir Lindsay Hoyle

'On Friday the 5th of November 5 year 11 students, together with Mr Furey and Mrs Jones, were invited to an audience with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons at Bury Grammar School. Sir Lindsay gave a speech full of insights into the workings of the House of Commons, with a large number of personal stories about what it means to represent a constituency.

Heavenly Hair at Hazel Wood

Heavenly Hair at Hazel Wood is an intergenerational project with socialisation and well-being at its heart. The project aims to provide simple hairdressing services for free to our older residents who have struggled to meet friends and afford the little luxuries that contribute to feeling good. The trainee students under the supervision of Mrs Moores will deliver shampoo and blow dry services and hand massage.

Congratulations to our Year 11 Leaders

There were 9 sports leaders from Hazel Wood High School that represented their school by taking on a leadership/officiating role at a primary school festival. The festival was a SEN/Inclusion Panathlon Multi Skills event. Pupils were assigned an active multi skills station.

Their role was to welcome schools as they arrived at their station in a carousel format, they then had to give a brief explanation of how the activity was completed before recording results.
